Amy Fienen - Communications Coordinator
Amy Fienen joined Kings County Farm Bureau in July 2011, bringing with her more than 10 years of journalism experience. A graduate of Azusa Pacific University, Amy worked as the managing editor for Fresno Magazine, and the editor-in-chief of Totts Magazine. She spent several years reporting in her hometown of Kingsburg as the editor of The Kingsburg Press and a reporter for The Kingsburg Recorder. She also worked as a producer at KMPH Fox 26.
Born and raised in Kingsburg, Amy comes from a family of grape growers. In high school, she was active in FFA, raising a lamb named Daisy. When it came time to sell Daisy on market day at the Fresno Fair, Amy realized she had made the distressing mistake of thinking of her lamb as more of a pet than as dinner. She has not eaten lamb since that fateful day, and decided she would be better off raising dairy goats. What began as a two-goat project grew into a small herd of eight. Quickly learning that pre-dawn milking was not the most desirable of tasks for a non-morning person, Amy decided that the life of a farmer was probably not her calling. It turns out she is better suited to sitting in an air-conditioned office writing about farming.
Amy and her husband, Brian, a captain for SkyWest Airlines, are the parents of two boys, Zachary and Caleb. In spite of the fact that Amy swore she would never return to Kingsburg when she moved away after high school, she later decided that there really is no place like home. She is now subjecting her own children to the kind of scrutiny that can only come with being raised in a small town.
