Ryan Bertao

Ryan Bertao - Executive Director

Since August 2003, Ryan Bertao has been managing the day-to-day operations of the Kings County Farm Bureau.  Ryan oversees a membership of nearly 1,000 Kings County farm and ranch families administering several programs, ranging from ag education, to political action, to youth scholarships and contests.
Prior to his arrival in Kings County, Ryan was a policy analyst for the California Department of Food and Agriculture.  While at CDFA, Ryan gained a better knowledge of the entire political spectrum in Sacramento.  He reviewed and tracked legislation, attended hearings, and chaired the 2003 National Ag Day event at CA State Capitol.
Born and raised on his family’s dairy farm in Tulare, Ryan has been around agriculture his entire life.  Following graduation from high school at Tulare Western, Ryan was elected by his peers to serve as the California State FFA President.  As state president, Ryan presented workshops to over 45,000 FFA members in 300 schools promoting agricultural education.
Ryan graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2002 with a BS Degree in Agricultural Science and minors in Agricultural Communications and Agri-Business.  While at Cal Poly, Ryan was active in the Los Lecheros Dairy Club, was a member of the dairy cattle judging team, and served as Chairman of the College of Agriculture Student Council.
Ryan credits sister Rhonda for creating the path by which he followed; his mother Donna for helping him find the perseverance and resolve needed to accomplish his goals; and his father Joe for igniting a passion in him for the agricultural industry
